The Honest Answer
Does Little Italy Have Driveways to Repair?
Almost none. The neighborhood is a few blocks of tenements and restaurants with no front yards and little room for a car. If you are looking for a house driveway, this is probably not the right page. If you have a delivery entrance or a curb cut, we can help.
Some buildings have a single wide opening for deliveries, a garage door at the back, or a ramp that carries carts from the street into a loading room. The concrete there takes weight a normal sidewalk never sees, and it breaks where the walk meets the curb.
We write a plain estimate for that kind of work and tell you whether the surface needs resurfacing, a rebuilt edge, or a full new slab.
What Entrance Concrete Fails First in a Tenement Block?
The curb cut apron goes first. It takes wheel loads at an edge, carries water to the street and meets the curb line, where the slab is thinnest. Delivery ramps and loading room floors follow, especially where hand trucks and pallet jacks cross the same joints all day.
A curb cut is the lowered section of curb that lets carts or vehicles pass from the roadway to the sidewalk. When the lip crumbles, wheels catch, and the walk beside it begins to crack.
Restaurants that receive daily deliveries see this more than most. The same two or three panels take the load year round. When they fail, the usual cause is a thin slab laid over a poor base.
What about a garage under the building?
A few buildings have a small garage at the back or side. The ramp to it needs a rough finish for grip, a clear drain at the bottom and a sound edge at the sidewalk. We look at all three together.

What Goes Into the Price of an Entrance Repair?
Patch or full slab
A broken corner can be cut out and repoured. A slab with spreading cracks is replaced as a unit.
Load it carries
A cart entrance needs less depth than one used by delivery trucks.
Edge at the curb
Rebuilding a crumbled apron edge needs forming and care, and it sits on the public side.
Permits
Sidewalk and curb work generally needs a DOT permit, and our office files it.
We price after seeing the entrance, not before. The written estimate lists each part of the job.

How Long Does an Entrance Repair Take?
Small edge repairs take a short visit plus cure time. A full apron replacement follows the sidewalk pattern of one to two weeks, with two to three business days for permit steps where they apply. We plan around your delivery hours.
Inspect
We check the slab, the curb lip and where water runs.
Estimate
The written price separates private concrete from the sidewalk portion.
Permit
We file what the public portion requires.
Repair
Broken concrete comes out and new concrete is formed and poured.
Cure
Deliveries pause until the new slab is strong enough.
What Rules Apply to a Curb Cut or Service Entrance?
The apron crosses the public sidewalk, so DOT rules apply to it. Work entirely inside your lot does not use the DOT sidewalk permit, though structural work, retaining walls and curb cuts can need DOB approval. Confirm current rules with the city.
If the sidewalk portion already has a violation, repair it first and then request dismissal. Our page on sidewalk violations lays out that sequence.
The streets here sit outside any historic district that we can confirm.
